Overview
This document defines the visual role, framing strategy, and behavioral positioning of each camera during live services at CAVLA. While Documents A and B cover cue callouts and operator responses, this guide ensures every camera knows what to shoot, how to frame it, and why it matters. It serves as a visual standard and creative map for all services — improving consistency, storytelling, and dynamic flow.
🎥 Camera Roles & Framing Responsibilities
Back Cam (Tripod – Center Rear)
- Primary Role: Anchor shot. Always live-ready.
- Typical Framing: Full stage, 2/3 pulpit + preacher, centered wides.
- Zoom Rules:
- Stay ~50–65% zoomed for flexibility
- Only punch-in when directed (e.g., “zoom on pastor – live in 5”)
- After being live, reset to your default wide framing unless instructed otherwise
- Creative Use: Reaction cutaways, crowd worship, cross dissolves
Left Cam (Tripod – Front Left Angle)
- Primary Role: Emotional angle, stage profile, choir shots
- Typical Framing:
- Side view of preacher or worship leader
- Choir wide, 2-person harmonies, instrumentalists
- Behavioral Cue:
- If preacher turns toward crowd’s right (camera’s left), prep tighter shot
- Default to angled waist-up shots for preachers/singers
- Dynamic Tips: Can pan slowly or punch-in mid-queue if cue permits
Runner (Wireless – Dynamic Handheld)
- Primary Role: Inserts, depth, intimate detail shots
- Typical Framing:
- Tight worshippers
- Instruments (hands on keys/guitar)
- Preacher float shots
- Movement Rules:
- Stay fluid but quiet
- Avoid blocking static cams
- Always move in wide arcs — never approach the stage head-on unless it’s pre-cued
- Creative Use: Dolly zooms, rack focus, roaming worship energy
